Oh, it was loverly....

Last night my friend Tiffany and I were scheduled to go see Juno together. Yesterday morning I got an e-mail from her about our plans. She had gotten two free tickets to see My Fair Lady at the Palace Theatre and wanted to know if I would be her guest. Of course, she would understand if I didn't want to trek downtown after a long day of work on a really cold night. What was she thinking!?!? Of course I want to trek downtown on a cold night for free tickets to a show!

Our seats weren't the best in the world but they were still in the building and they were FREE!! Except for one little technical difficulty involving a set piece that wouldn't move, the show was lovely, albeit very long (2 1/2 hours not including the intermission). The woman who played Henry Higgins' mother is the woman who did the singing voice for Audrey Hepburn in the movie (she also sang for many other famous people in movies). Unfortunately, we didn't get to hear her sing by herself in the show. I can also say that I got to go backstage after the show. Tiffany works the stage door at the theatre so we exited through the backstage doors to beat the crowds. I saw some really big hats, a couple of wigs and a costume person or two so it wasn't super exciting, but still...

And, the best part? Getting to hang out with Tiffany for a couple of hours.

I'm not a huge fan of the movie, but I bet the musical would be fun, all that "Rain in Spain...plains". And the clothes! Oh, the clothes.

It's worth it for the hats alone! I'm not even sure how some of them stayed on people's heads!
