You see, I live in an apartment in Chicago. That means that it's not very big and inevitably there is one room in the place that was not thought out very well. Most of the time, that room is the kitchen. That is the case with my current apartment. I love the location and I even like the layout of the place. It has two bedrooms that are pretty much equal in size (another rarity in Chicago). The kitchen leaves something to be desired. There is a serious lack of storage space and also some space not used very well. For instance, along one wall where they could have put in some nice cabinets and a counter top, they instead just put in a shelf that is barely deep enough to put a coffee maker on. How is that helpful!?!? Fortunately, I already owned some shelving that fits very well under said shelf and gives us some extra storage space. However, because these are slatted shelves, we were finding that there were a lot of crumbs that would fall either on top of the microwave or onto the dishes. Seeing as how my dad is actually pretty handy and enjoys a project every now and again (mostly because he lives in the middle of no where and gets bored), I commissioned him to create a solution. As of today, the solution has been installed. Check out the tile work!
Now my kitchen looks a little more polished and put together. AND, no more crumbs on top of my dishes!! Yeah!
Thanks dad! (not that you will ever read this...)
